William Strong Lowry, son of Rev. Joseph Lowry and the former Miss Mary Pressly, was born in the bounds of Ebenezer & Louisville A.R.P. congregations; where his father was Pastor.
On August 2nd 1837, William married Miss "Eliza" Stephens in Clarke County, Georgia. This union had one son:
Rev. William Joseph Lowry (1838 – 1877)
After Eliza's death, William Lowry married Miss Harriet Jennings O'Bannon, daughter of Jennings O'Bannon of Barnwell, South Carolina. This union had two sons:
William "Willie" Hay Lowry (1848-1849)
Rev. Jennings O'Bannon Lowry (1851 – 1908)
Harriet O'Bannon Lowry died in Louisville, Georgia on the 15th April 1851; leaving William a widower once more.
After the war, William Lowry moved to Due West, South Carolina to take a position at Erskine College as Latin Professor. In the late 1870's after his son, William died; his three surviving grandchildren moved to Due West to pursue their education.

March 16th 1892
A telegram from Due West, S.C., announced the death on Feb. 28 of Prof. W. S. Lowry. He was a son of Rev. Joseph Lowry, D.D., of Louisville and was born at the old Lowry homestead about seven miles from Louisville. He had two sons, the late lamented Joseph Lowry, D.D. of Louisville, Ky. and Rev. J. O'B. Lowry, Kansas City, Ks. The larger part of his life's work was performed principally in the town of Louisville. For thirty years, from 1839 to 1869, he was principal of the Louisville Academy. In 1865, he was elected Professor of Latin in Erskine College.
