William PARROTT

***

William was definitely a Quaker.  Of course, there is John Perrot the Quaker (I suspect they were half-brothers).  Some of the families they interacted with (eg, Taylor) were also Quakers.

The one thing I am fairly sure is that John the Quaker was NOT the son of the Sir John Perrot.  Based on his admission to law school, John's son John must have been b ~1565.  John the Quaker died in 1665, and there is no indication that he was anywhere close to 100 years old. Furthermore, since John Jr is not mentioned in the will of his brothers, we can probably assueme he died early.

~~~
By the year 1649 William Parrott was in Talbot Co., Maryland, whereto he came from the British Isles, either from England or from Ireland. His second wife was Ann Abrams (Abrahams).  He died at his home on the Tred Avon River in Talbot Co., Maryland on 11 May 1669.
A William Parrott came to the Colonies about the same time as John Perrot and was in the Newport News area in Virginia in 1623.  If he be the same William Parrott who was in Talbot Co., Maryland in 1649, then his first and perhaps second marriages may well have taken place in Virginia.  Virginia would have been his port of immigration as well. William and John might have been brothers despite the different spelling of the surname.  All throughout the surname was variously written as PARRATT, PARRAT, PARRET, PARRETT, PERRATT, PERRAT, PERAT, Perrott, PERROT, PARROTT, PARROT, PAROT, etc.
William Parrott of was credited with building the ''Parrot's Cage'' in Calvert Co., Maryland.  He owned land in both Calvert and Talbot Counties.  In Prince George's County there is even a PARROTT MANOR, erected in 1665, consisting of 1097 acres.  Owners of the manor in 1703 were Esquires Gabriel and George Parrott, and George Parker. (from ''Register of Maryland's Heraldic Families'').
William Parrott left a Will dated 14 Mar 1668/69 and proven 11 May 1669.
(In those days the calender year began officially on Lady Day, that is, the 25th of March.  Thus 14 Mar 1668 is in reality 14 Mar 1669.)
It is believed by some that our ancestor William Parrott was the son of another William PERROT who died in 1597 in Dublin, Ireland.  This William Parrott was the son of SIR John PERROT and his wife JUNE POLLARD.
A William Parrat, son of William, was christened at Saint Gabriel's Church on 22 July 1582 in London, England. ; A William Perat, son of William, was christened 6 Sept 1573 at St Peter's Church in Bedford, England.  One of these might be our 9th great-grandfather William Parrott, son of the aforesaid William Perrot.
Sir John Perrot was a bastard son of King HENRY VIII. ; John Perrot was sufficiently favoured to have been knighted by the King and appointed Lord Deputy of Ireland.
If the aforesaid is true, then Sir John Perrot and June Pollard would be our Eleventh-great-grandparents.  King Henry the Eight of England (born 1491 - died 1547) would then be our Twelfth-great-grandfather. The truth is that the Parrots in the colony of Maryland had substantial wealth and enjoyed a high position.  The family history is extremely well documented due to their origin and to the fact that they lived in the same Canterbury Manor for quite a few generations. Also, note the name HENRY which repeats itself in several generations of Parrotts, as if to ever remind us of Henry The Eighth.
