Though the Kip Family in America & the Family Tree of Benjamin Kipp both list Hiram and Harry (probably meant Harvey) as children of John Kipp and Ruth Carpenter, I have found no difinitive proof of this relationship. It appears the strongest evidence suggesting they are the sons of John & Ruth is that both Hiram and Harvey were born in NY (about 1801 & 1802) and lived in Yarmouth, Ontario...as did John, Ruth and their other children. Normally I would say this all but verifies the connection, however in all of the quaker records we have found, there is no mention of Hiram or Harry/Harvey (while all of the other children are listed). Hiram and Harry/Harvey would have been the oldest of John & Ruth's children, however, in an 1807 removal certificate from Owesgo (Dutchess Co, NY) to Creek meetings, it simply mentions that John and Ruth removed to Creek with their two minor children Jesse & Maria. In 1807, Hiram and Harry/Harvey would have been about 5 & 6 years old. Seems odd that at that age they wouldn't have been with their parents. Its possible they were related to John and Ruth in some other manner than being their children, but that is guesswork. Its also possible they were John & Ruth's sons, but for some reason were not listed in the quaker records we've found for John and Ruth. ; Further investigation required. - Scott Aaron (April, 2004)
Update: May, 2004 - I've found a record of a land grant in 1846 from John Kipp to Harvey Kipp. This still doesn't prove a father-son relationship, but it adds to the probability. It at least proves there was some form of relationship between the two. This also likely proves a relationship between John and Hiram Kipp because we know there was a relationship between Harvey and Hiram (witnesses at eachother's marriages). Also, I've found a 1820 land record where Jonathan Doan signed off on property to John Kipp & William Harvey. Hiram Kipp married Sarah Harvey, who was probably a daughter of William's. - Scott Aaron[Benjamin Kipp Descendants.FTW]
