A False Rumor.
Dr. W. F. G. L. Baron d'Ablaing vo Giessenburg who resided on the New Alameda road, about five miles from town, is reported by his physician, Dr Anderson to be lying at the point of death. The old gentleman is afflicted with an incurable disease of the kidneys, and for the past two weeks has suffered untold agony. A rumor which prevailed yesterday that the Baron had committed suicide was surely without foundation. D'Ablaing has led an eventful life. He is a Hollander by birth, and for twelve years prior to coming to California held the position of Governor-General of the Island of Java. He married a Javanese lady of rank, by whom he has had six children - three boys and three girls. Since the above was put in type a message has been recieved that Baron d'Ablaing breathed his last at three o'clock pm yesterday.
Which nephew is this??:
may 28, In 1889, Willem M d'Ablaing, lawyer, dies at 37
August 29 In 1851, Willem M d'Ablaing, Dutch lawyer Birthday.
Jane's info:
I am researching Baron William Frederick Geo. Lodewijk d'Ablaing Van Giessenburg born March 10, 1816 in Gravenhage. He was the governor of the Dutch East Indies. He married a Javanese princess Ann Louis d'Inio on May 5, 1858 in Semarang. Anna was born about 1827 in Pitala, Podang - Pandjang. She died Jan 22, 1899 in San Jose and is buried in Oak hill Mem. Park. She did remarry after the Baron died. He died Oct. 8, 1877 in San Jose and is buried at Oak hill Mem. Park. They went back to Holland where there was an overthrow of the King sometime in the 1860's. They were kicked out of the country. They went to England. But the weather did not agree with them. They came to America about 1870. They passed thru Chicago and finally settled in San Jose. They had 6 children. Four of the children were born in Pati and the last 2 in the Netherlands. Fritz and George the 2 oldest are listed in the Santa Clara Co. History book 1922 Page 237 & 238. But I do not have a copy. Fritz and George were members of the San Jose Symphony Orchestra. The family owned their own race tract at one time. I can trace these people back to 1703 to the Netherlands. I am missing 1 or 2 links between the Baron and my husband. I have alot of info I will be willing to share with anyone who is researching this line. Contact me Jane Foley at (XXXXX@XXXX.XXX)
