BENSON - Mrs. Mary Vogel, 74, died at 3 a.m. Sunday at her home here after an illness of two months of gall stones. Five weeks ago she submitted to an operation in St. Mary's hospital, in Streator, and was ill in her home the last two weeks.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday from St. John's Catholic church with the Rev. Fr. Sylvan Becker and the rev. Fr. Eugene Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery.
Mary Gretter was born Sept. 9, 1863, at Kentland, Ind. She was married Jan. 23, 1883, to Frank Vogel in Benson. He died seven years ago.
She is survived by nine children: Lawrence, Edward and Aloys and Mrs. Max Mayer, all of Benson; Mrs. Fayron Breese, Heyworth; Mrs. Lester Pfister, El Paso; Raymond, Toluca; Eugene, Bloomington and Mrs. Gene Cleary, El Paso. There are 27 grandchildren and two great grand children.
Brothers and sisters surviving are: Mrs. Elizabeth Vogel, Topeka, Kan.; Mrs. Helena Bauer, Chicago; Mrs. Frank Hock, Low Point; Sister Mary Conrad, Sister Mary Fienna and Sister Teresa Joseph of St. Mary's of the Woods; Henry, Wapeaton, N.D., Joseph, Rockwell City, Ia.; John, Early Park, Ind., and Al, Chicago.
They had lived in Green township almost 50 years at the time of Mr. Vogel's death and she then moved to town.
