Bride a Successful School Teacher— To Live On Farm at Guckeen, Minnesota

A wedding of interest to many here took place at high noon yesterday (Wednesday), August 27 at 2:30 o'clock when Miss Annabel Bosma became the bride of Norman Oswald. The ceremony was performed at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, inthe presence of the witnesses, Miss Lillian Bosma and Richard Oswald.

The bride was attired in a gown of yellow georgette and carried a bouquet of sweet peas and lillies of the valley. Her bridesmaid wore a dress of pink flat silk crepe.

After the ceremony the bridal party returned to the home of the bride for the reception and wedding supper. Only the relatives of the contracting parties were present.

Mrs. Oswald is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Bosma. Sr. She was a member of the 1926 graduating class of tlie Buffalo "Center High School and has taught rural schools near here since that time. She is a young lady of good characterand is highly respected by all who know her.

Mr. Oswald is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Oswald, farmers of the Elmore vicinity, and the bridegroom is aii industrious young farmer lad who has been associated with his father in farming. He is a fine young man and is making good. Theywill make their home with his folks till March first when they will move to a farm near Guckeen, Minn.

Their many friends join in extending congratulatios.

Mr. and Mrs. Oswald are away on a motor trip to the Black Hills and to Yellowstone Park."

Obituary

Annabel Marie Oswald, age 103, of Frost, died Sunday, January 6, 2013, at Parker Oaks in Winnebago.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2013, at 11:00 AM, at United Lutheran Church in Frost, with Rev. Arne Halbakken officiating. Burial will be in United Lutheran Cemetery, Frost. Visitation time will be one hour prior to services at the church. Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, of Blue Earth is assisting the family with the arrangements. Annabel was born July 12, 1909, in Buffalo Center, IA,, the daughter of Thomas and Florence (Adams) Bosma. She was raised and educated in Buffalo Center, Iowa where she was a 1926 graduate of Buffalo Center High School. She earned her teaching certificate and taught at the Oswald School near Elmore before her marriage to Norman Oswald on August 27, 1930 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple farmed at Pilot Grove, Dell and later at Frost for many years until retiring to Frost in 1966. Annabel taught Sunday school for many years in Dell and Frost and was very active in church ladies aide and circles. She grew many excellent vegetable and flower gardens and later enjoyed wintering with Norman in Mesa, Arizona. The couple loved to travel and had visited Germany, Norway, Mexico, Alaska and many other domestic locations. Her greatest joy was being with her family and staying connected to her extended family; she will be greatly missed.

Annabel Oswald is survived by her daughter, Lorraine Karkela of Savage, her son, Raymond (Pat) Oswald of Frost, her brother, Jim Bosma of Buffalo Center, Iowa, her sister in law, Grace Bosma of Buffalo Center, Iowa, her grandchildren: Tammy (Kevin) Greenfield, Jim (Deb) Oswald, Todd (Julie) Karkela, & KrisAnn (Tom) Krause, her great grandchildren: Alicia, Melissa (Levi), Ryle, Thomas, Andrew & Mitchell and great great grandson- Logan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband-Norman in1998, and twelve brothers & sisters: Lewis Bosma, Edward Bosma, Thomas Bosma, Mattie Horton, Heiko Bosma, Bert Bosma, Lillian Mastin, Bessie Weaver, Esther Mastin, Grace Hassebroek, Irene Burger & Clarence Bosma and a son-in-law, Willard Karkela."
