Bessie Weaver, age 95, of Buffalo Center, Iowa went to be with her Lord, Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center, IA.

Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Saturday, September 20, at First Congregational Church in Buffalo Center with Pastor David Langer. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Buffalo Center.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Friday at Winter Funeral Home in Buffalo Center.

Bessie Margaret (Bosma) Weaver was born March 16, 1913 in Kossuth County, southwest of Buffalo Center to Thomas and Florence (Adams) Bosma. She was the ninth of a family of fourteen children which included seven boys and seven girls. Sheattended country school and helped with many things on the farm. She also worked as a hired girl for several families in the area.

On June 15, 1941, she married Harold August Weaver. To this union, three daughters were born. For several years, they farmed in the Lakota, Buffalo Center, and Garner area until 1960 when they moved into Buffalo Center. In 1976, their marriage ended in divorce.

Bessie was a faithful attendant at the First Congregational Church. She was their janitor for twelve years which was a great joy to her. She accepted Jesus as her Savior at the age of 13 and later was baptized. She loved to read the Bible, sing hymns, and was a prayer warrior.

Bessie also did cleaning for various businesses and individuals in the community. She loved to garden, sew, bake, paint pictures, write poems and letters, read, and do crafts. She also enjoyed her flowers and watching and feeding thebirds.

In 1992, she moved from her home to the care center for the winter. Then in the spring of 1993, she moved to an assisted living unit in Garner and then moved back to the care center a couple of years later.

Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters: Gloria Smith and her husband Lewis Charles of Indianola; Karen Penning and her husband Doug of Buffalo Center; Debra Fardal and her husband Dan of Forest City; five grandchildren: KeithLarson and his wife Joan of Burlington; Amy Hicok and her husband Bill of Lake Mills; Angela Borst and her husband Jeff of Altoona; Jeremy Fardal and fiancée Kristine Mannes of Ringsted; and Steven Fardal of Forest City; sevengreat-grandchildren: Jennifer Peterson of Clear Lake; Chelsea Larson of Des Moines; Zachary, Cody, Logan, and Brayden Borst of Altoona; Evan Fardal of Ringsted; one great-great-grandson Carter Peterson of Clear Lake; one sister AnnabelOswald of Blue Earth, MN; one brother Alfred (Jim) Bosma of Buffalo Center; one sister-in-law Grace Bosma of Buffalo Center; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her: parents; six brothers: Lewis; Ed; Thomas; Heiko; Bert; and Clarence; five sisters: Martha Horton; Lillian Mastin; Esther Mastin; Grace Hassebroek; Irene Burger; and by sister and brother-in-laws.

Bessie Weaver, age 95, of Buffalo Center went to be with Her Lord, Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 20, at First Congregational Church in Buffalo Center with Pastor David Langer officiating. Music was provided by Ruth Ann Milbrandt, organist and Emily Silber. Honorary bearers were her grandchildren Keith Larson, Angela Borst, Amy Hicok, Jeremy Fardal and StevenFardal. Casketbearers were her nephews Mark Bosma, Ray Bosma, Harley Hassebroek, Steven Bosma, Raymond Oswald and Kenneth Mastin. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery in Buffalo Center. The Winter Funeral Home in Buffalo Center was in chargeof arrangements.
