"Jim" joined the Army Air Corps in 1943 and was commissioned in 1945. He was abombardier/navigator. His overseas tours of duty took him to Panama, St. Lucia in the Caribbean, and Taiwan. He retired in 1963 in the rank of Major, USAF.He then started a new career with the Employment Security Commission of NorthCarolina and he retired in 1987 as Manager of the Goldsboro and surrounding offices.
He was active in many public and civic organizations. HIs favorite organization was Kiwanis. He was Lt. Governor for the Carolinas District in 1985/86.
His declining health curtailed his many acitvities in his later years,but he still managed to travel yearly to his favorite island in the Caribbean,St. John.
He died suddenly on Dec 17, 2001. His remains were cremated and are to be dispersed at the place of his birth, Maple Crest, Greene County, New York.
