Katharine or Katherine Nevill(e); m. 1st 2nd Duke of Norfolk of the 1397creation; m. 2nd before 27 Jan 1441/2 Sir Thomas Strangeways; m. 3rdafter 1442, as his 2nd wife, 1st Viscount Beaumont; m. 4th just after1464 Sir John Woodville, brother of Elizabeth, Queen Consort of EdwardIV. He [John Beaumont] married 2ndly, after 1442, Katharine, widow of SirThomas STRANGWAYS, and before that of JOHN (DE MOWBRAY), DUKE OF NORFOLK)and daughter of Ralph (NEVILL), EARL OF WESTMORLAND, by his 2nd wife,Joan DE BEAUFORT, daughter of John of Gaunt, DUKE OF LANCASTER. He died10 July 1460, being slain under the Lancastrian banner, at the battle ofNorthampton. His widow married, 4thly, shortly after 1464, Sir JohnWIDVILLE) who was beheaded (with his father, EARL RIVERS) at Kenilworth)12 August 1469. [Complete Peerage II:62, (transcribed by Dave Utzinger)]

Note: Talk about an age difference. Katherine was probably 40 years ormore older than her 4th husband! It makes you wonder whether JohnWydeville was a brother of Richard Wydeville, 1st Earl Rivers, ratherthan his son.

The following excerpt from a post to SGM, 16 Oct 2001, by Henry Sutliff,supports the "May-Dec" marriage of Katherine & John Wydeville:

"Also, let's all not put an undue amount of emphasis on the RoyalDescents. I cannot think of any family that made a greater effort atmaking political marriages than the Wydevilles. The suggestion thateverything was based on Royal Descents rather than political strategy isnot correct. Both were considerations. I regret not having my noteshandy, but Elizabeth Wydeville's brother John was married to KatherineNeville, Dowager Duchess of Norfolk and thrice widowed. John Wydevillewas more than 40 years her junior. This marriage had nothing to do withRoyal Descents, but everything to do with politics, alliance and money."

Wasn't Katherine 40 years plus OLDER than her 4th husband rather thanyounger? Maybe this marriage is recorded between the wrong people.
