In the name of God Amen I William Shepherd the Elder of Pirton in the County of Hertford Yeoman being in good health of body and of sound and perfict Mind and Memory praise be therefore given to Almighty God do make and Ordain this my last Will and Testam[en]t in maner and form following that is to say Imprimis I give and devise unto my son John Shepherd all and singular my free hold land tenements and herediments whatsoever with every of their rights members appendants and appurten[en]ces which I have or am possessed of in the parish of Pirton aforesaid to hold the same promised with the appurten[en]ces unto the said John Shepherd and to his heirs and or assignes for ever Hee or they paying or causeing to be paid out of the same unto my son William Shepherd the sum of forty pounds and unto my son Edward the sum of Sixty pounds of lawfull money of Great Britain when they shall atain to their several ages of twenty one years. Item I give devise and bequeath unto Hannah my loving wife all my personal Estate of what Nature or kind soever she the said Hannah paying out of the same unto three of my other children namely Sue Hannah and Richard the sums of Fifty Pounds - a Piece of lawfull Money when they shall attain to their several ages of One & Twenty Years and my will and mind further is that if the said Hannah my wife shall marry again that all and every of my children that shall be then living shall be paid Twenty Pounds apiece of like lawfull money and of the said personal estate over and above what is already given them as above said.
