    Herman Nicholas Hake
    TIPTON -- Herman Nicholas Hake died January 31, 2008, at Beloit, KS. He was born April 28, 1910, to Theodore J. and Barbara (Mick) Hake, the 11th child of 13, on the family farm southwest of Tipton, KS. Herman was a lifelong farmer and stockman. In the 1950's, he was employed by the Mitchell County ASCS office. Herman was a talented woodcrafter.
    On August 25, 1936, he and Evelyn Smith were united in marriage at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Tipton. Six children were born to this union: Ted, Carol, Bob, Ernie, Mary Lou and Jane.
    He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1645, serving as Grand Knight, served on the St. Boniface Parish and School Councils and also served on the Tipton Public School Board.
    He is predeceased by his parents; 5 brothers, John, Mark, Henry, Theodore, Benedict; 6 sisters, Katie Steichken, Elizabeth Thummel, Mary Schmitt, AnnaMoritz, Dorothy Hake and Sr. Luella (Caroline) Hake; a grandson, Scott Curtis; and a great-granddaughter, Brittany Martin.
    Survivors include: his wife, Evelyn, of the home; three sons, Ted and wife, Jeanie of Hamilton, MT, Bob and wife, Pat of Elephant Butte, NM, Ernie and wife, Pat of Littleton, CO; three daughters, Carol and husband, Gene Curtis of Aurora, CO, Mary Lou and husband Clarence Brummer of Beloit, KS, and Jane and husband Add Coverdale of Circleville, KS. He also leaves to mourn 25 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; one sister, Pauline Thull; 4 sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
    Funeral services will be held Monday, February 4, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Tipton. A vigil service will be held February 3 at 7 p.m. at the church.
    Final resting place will be in St. Boniface Cemetery, Tipton. Memorial funds have been established to St. Boniface Church Trust Fund and Tipton High School Endowment Fund. Domoney's Funeral Home, 817 Morgan Ave., Downs, KS, is in charge of arrangements.
