Ten zuiden van de oude stadskern van Vollenhove liggen in het park van het landgoed Oldruitenborgh op een eilandje de laatste resten van het eens zo omvangrijke kasteel Toutenburg, omspoeld door de brede vierhoekige slotgracht. Coördinaten: 52°40'45.50"N 5°57'14.11"O.
De Toutenburg werd gesticht door Georg (of Jurjen) Schenck, die als edelman van Frederik van Baden, bisschop van Utrecht, in 1496 in ons land kwam en begiftigd werd met het drostambt van Vollenhove en later met het stadhouderschap van de noordelijke Nederlanden.
