Sir John Brydges, 1st Baron Chandos of Sudeley was born on 9 March 1491/92 at Cubberley, Gloucestershire, England.
He was baptised on 9 March 1491/92 at Cubberley, Gloucestershire, England.
He was the son of Sir Giles Brugge, 6th Lord Chaundos and Isabel Baynham.
He married Elizabeth Grey, daughter of Edmund Grey, 9th Lord Grey (of Wilton) and Florence Hastings.
He died on 12 April 1557 at age 65 at Sudeley Castle, Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, England.
He was buried on 3 May 1557 at Sudeley Castle, Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, England.
His will (dated 2 March 1555/6) was probated on 28 May 1557.
Sir John Brydges, 1st Baron Chandos of Sudeley succeeded to the title of 7th Lord Chaundos [E., 1337] on 1 December 1511, de jure.

He obtained a grant from Queen Anne the grant of Castle and manor of Sudeley, after being instrumental suppressing Wyatt's rebellion.
He held the office of Lieutenant of the Tower of London between August 1553 and June 1554.
He was created 1st Baron Chandos of Sudeley, co. Gloucester [England] on 8 April 1554.
On 12 April 1554 he assisted Lady Jane Grey to the scaffold.
