Gedoopt op 20 april 1788 als zoon van arbeider Hendrik Harms Veldman en Kunnigje Alberts Smelt. Hij viel onder de lichting van 1808 en was ingedeeld bij het 33ste Regiment Canonniers. Zijn laatste levensteken kwam uit Stettin. Op 26 november 1814 was hij nog steeds vermist en er is - voor zover bekend - ook nadien geen levensteken meer van hem vernomen.
