Notes about Ferdinand Frederik de Boois

Op 1 januari 1905 trad dhr. F.F. de Boois in dienst als gemeentearchitect in Baarn, ter vervulling van de vacature S. Hofs. Dhr. De Boois werd geboren op 7 oktober 1874 in Den Helder. Zijn opleiding genoot hij aan de Ambachtsschool te Groningen, waarna hij tijdelijk opzichter werd bij de Provinciale Waterstaat en uitvoerder van brug- en sluiswerken te Groningen. Vervolgens werd hij opzichter bij een particulier architect in Hengelo. In 1900 behaalde hij het diploma Bouwkundig Opzichter en werd als tekenaar werkzaam gesteld bij de Utrechtsche Waterleiding Maatschappij voor het maken van tekeningen voor de tentoonstelling te Parijs. Deze werden met de gouden medaille bekroond. Bij dezelfde maatschappij fungeerde hij als opzichter bij den aanleg eener prise-d'eau te Hilversum. Daarna werd dhr. De Boois opzichter bij de gemeente Hilversum voor de uitbreiding der eerste bevloeiingsvelden en pompmachine ten behoeve van de riolering achter de gasfabriek aldaar.
In 1905 werd dhr. De Boois benoemd tot gemeentearchitect van Baarn en directeur der Nuts-Amachts-Teekenschool. In Baarn heeft Dhr. De Boois zijn rijke gaven ten volle kunnen ontplooien. Enkele gebouwen van zijn hand zijn: "De Oorsprong" (school M.U.L.O.), "Erica" of "Middenbosch" (de verbouwing), de gebouwen van de gemeente-reiniging, Nutsgebouw, de school van "Middenbosch", 't monumentale gemeentehuis, Lenteleven, het oude politiebureau op de Stationsweg, woningbouw Heuveloord, middenstandswoningen aan de Acacialaan, Slachthuis, Koelhuis met dienstwoningen, woning directeur gasfabriek, begraafplaats met gebouwen, school aan de Dalweg, School met den Bijbel in Lage Vuursche, Badhuis aan de Acacialaan, rioleringswerken, verbouwingen aan de openbare scholen, verbouwing Gasfabriek enz. Een schitterende staat van dienst!
