OBITUARY:
VANDER MARKT - John Vander Markt of Hudsonville, went to his Heavenly Home on Thursday, April 16, 2009. John was born in Grand Rapids on October 26, 1930. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Michele, his son, Michael, parents, John and Lena, and sister, Dorothy. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. John loved his softball and was very well known for his fast pitch. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Joyce (Westveld); his children, Tami (Jim) Wisniewski, Lori (Gary) Alles, Amy (Ken) Yonker; his grandchildren, Jimmy, Jessica, Johnny, and Emily Wisniewski, Ryan, Drew and Courtney Alles, Jason (Gechoff), Caitlyn, Eric and Matt Yonker; his sister, Sis (Arn) Zichterman; brother, Bud (Gerald) Vander Markt; sister, Arlene (Jerry) Van Den Berg; his brother-in-law, Don (Florence) Westveld; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service for John will be held 6 p.m. Sunday at First Reformed Church of Grandville, 3036 Wilson Ave., with Pastor Christopher Wolf and Pastor Shawn Hulst officiating. Relatives and friends may meet his family at First Reformed Church of Grandville on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
