Hugo (Huich) werd vermeld in de 10de penning van 1543 te Delft en was burgemeester 1574, 1575 1581 en thesaurier 1585 van Delft . Ook was hij weesmeester 1576 en 1577. In 1572 bezocht hij zijn broer Jan in Frankfurt aan de Main. Hij werd belend met 10 morgen land in de parochie van De Lier en 5,5 morgen in de wining van Diepenburch te Maasland op 21-8-1576.
Hugo werd benoemd tot voogd over Euwout Dircx ...., vermled met zijn broer Bruin 1-6-1579 als erfgenaam van hun zusters Maria en Katharina, begijnen te delft, testeerde op 17-11-1581..
Zijn achternaam werd in officiele stukken dus naast Bruijn ook van der Dussen - een aangenomen naam met adelijke pretenties, maar ze stamden in de mannelijke lijn niet van af van adel.
