Add Post-em ID: I162434 Name: Martha Ellen SMITH Given Name: Martha Ellen Surname: Smith Sex: F Note: Martha's death record places her birth on 15 May 1840 and names her parents as Charles SMITH b. Necum Teuch, and Mary Jane LOGAN, b. Spry Bay, and I have not found any other record that lists her mother's surname. However: a. There is only one Charles SMITH in the1838 Census who lives at Bay Islands and he has a wife named Jane. b. Charles SMITH m. Sarah Jane ABRIEL in 1835 and she dies as Mrs. Charles SMITH in 1904, so there is no room for another wife. c. There is a gap in the birth order for Charles and Sarah Jane (ABRIEL) SMITH bet 1836 - 1844 which Martha fills. d. Pope's Harbour, where we know that Sarah Jane ABRIEL was born, is right next door to Spry Bay, where Sarah Jane LOGAN was supposedly born. So I believe that the informant on Martha's death record made a boo-boo and that Martha is the d/o Charles and Sarah Jane (ABRIEL) SMITH. 1 Birth: 15 MAY 1840 in Bay of Islands, Halifax, NS 2 Death: of Pneumonia 20 APR 1921 in Moser River, Halifax, NS 2 Burial: St. John's Anglican Cemetery, Necum Teuch, NS Father: Charles Richard SMITH b: 1808 in Necum Teuch, Halifax, NS Mother: Sarah Jane ABRIEL b: 19 JUL 1814 in Pope's Harbour, Halifax, NS Marriage 1 Ansel NICKERSON Married: 3 JAN 1861 in Noody Quoddy, Halifax, NS 3 4 Children Has Children Jeremiah Edmund NICKERSON b: 1861 in Noody Quoddy, Halifax, NS Has Children Charles Augustus NICKERSON b: NOV 1862 in Noody Quoddy, Halifax, NS Has Children Clara Jane Vincent NICKERSON b: 27 APR 1865 in Noody Quoddy, Halifax, NS Has Children Lavinia Elizabeth NICKERSON b: 1867 in Noody Quoddy, Halifax, NS Marriage 2 George Cornelius OICKLE b: 26 SEP 1843 in Bridgewater, Lunenburg, NS Married: 19 AUG 1873 in Salmon River, Colchester, NS 5 Children Has Children Estella Blanche OICKLE b: 9 OCT 1874 in Moser River, Halifax, NS Has Children Edgehill Austin McKenzie OICKLE b: 3 JAN 1876 in Moser River, Halifax, NS Has Children Willoughby Cecil OICLES b: 1877 in Moser River, Halifax, NS Has Children Edgar Allister OICLES b: 22 NOV 1880 in Moser River, Halifax, NS Has Children Anetta C.
