was directeur van de stichting keuringsdienst zuid holland van de N.A.K. en hoofdcontroleur de H.M.v.L. voor zijn verdiensten werd hij benoemd tot ridder in de orde van oranje -nassau.
in het streekmuseum te heinenoord bevinden zich nog keuringsrapporten e.d.

Gerrit woonde in 1914 bij zijn tante (Aartje van der Wilt, wed Teunis de Wit) aan de voorstraat (later nr 12, van Eijmeren) in klaaswaal. Op 5 augustus 1915 zijn ze in Rockanje getrouwd en op 17 augustus 1915 hebben ze zich ingeschreven bij de burgerlijke stand. Het stel heeft eerst even aan de Botweg gewoond enlange tijd aan de kreupeleweg (huidig nummer 50) Dit huis aan de kreupeleweg heette "Rust Roest" Gerrit van der Waal was Tuinder en hoofdcontroleur van de keuringsdienst Zuid-Holland. Het stel kreeg vier dochters (Janna, Magdalena, Aartje en Francina) en is in april 1937 verhuisd naar Barendrecht.

Huib Wolf Rust Roest was de Kwekerij van Gerrit Adrianus van der Waal, geh met Martijntje Klaasje van Toledo. Zij waren gevestigd aan de Kreupeleweg nr 50 (moderne huisnummering). in 1915 kwamen zij vanaf Voorne Putten aan de Kreupeleweg wonen. Gerrit Adrianus van der Waal was naast tuinder overigens ook "hoofdcontroleur van de keuringsdienst ZH van de Holl.Mij v. landbouw". In 1915 waren zij het 5e adres met telefoonaansluiting in Klaaswaal. Op 22 april 1937 vertrekken zij naar Barendrecht.
