Cornelia, Nellie, Vande Hoef, daughter of Cornelius and Maria Blom, was born August 20, 1926 in Peoria, Iowa. She lived her youth in Rock Valley and attended the rural country school there.

She was united in marriage to Gerrit Vande Hoef on February 26, 1948 at Rock Valley, Iowa. After their marriage they farmed near Sioux Center and moved into town in 1972. She was a member of the Dorcas Mission Society, the Hospital Auxiliary, and the Netherlands School Auxiliary. She was a teacher's aide for many years.

She is survived by her husband and six brothers: Jake Blom of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Jim Blom of Rock Valley, Iowa; John Blom of Rock Valley, Iowa; Arie Blom of Inwood,Iowa; Cornie Blom of New Holland, South Dakota; Henry Blom of Orange City, Iowa; two sisters: Marie Schmidt of Storm Lake, Iowa; and Jennie Kramer of Arlington, South Dakota.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
