Biography
Eliza Croot was born about 1833 and baptised on 22 Nov 1837 at Riseley, Bedfordshire, England. She was the daughter of James and Mary Croot.[1]

In the 1841 census, Eliza Croot was age 6 living at Riseley, Bedfordshire with her father James Croot (40), mother Mary Croot (38), brothers Fredrick Croot (16), Samuel Croot (14), Alfred Croot (10), sister Charlotte Croot (4).[2]

In the 1851 census, Eliza Croot (spelled Croote) was age 16 living at Souldrop, Bedfordshire as a servant in the household of Adolphus Hamilton. Occupation: House Maid.[3]

In the 1861 census, Eliza Croot (mis-transcribed as Crooke) was age 26 living at Mangrove Lane, Brickendon, Hertfordshire as a servant in the Beven household. Occupation: Cook.[4]

Charles Hilton, a widower, married Eliza Croot on 14 Jan 1873 at St Peter and St Paul, Kettering, Northamptonshire.[5][6] They had two children: Charles Herbert Hilton (b. 1873), Richard Croot Hilton (b. 1875).
