HISTORY The parish of Seagoe is situated in the north east corner of the county of Armagh. It is in the barony of Oneiland East and is bounded on the north by the parish of Montiaghs and Lough Neagh, on the east by the parish of Shankill and by the parish Donaghcolny in county Down, on the west by the parish of Drumcree and on the south by the parish of Kilmore and Tullyish in county Down. Its extreme length is 6 and a half English miles and extreme breadth 3 and a half miles. Its content is 10,982 acres 39 perches including 1,286 acres 1 perch of water. It is divided into 3 manorial districts; Carrowbrack, Kernan and Derry or as it is called by it's proprietor Brownlow's Derry. It is a rectory and vicarage in the Diocese of Dromore. Crossmacahilly was the Seagoe townland in which the family lived; a little over 221 acres in size, just east of Lylo, and about two and a half miles from Portadown, in the adjacent parish of Drumcree. About 44 acres of the property was unrentable bog. The balance was a mix of farmland and weavers' cottages with small adjoining crop areas.
