N.B. Oom Piet woonde met zijn moeder, Johanna de Witte, op Dorpsplein 42 te Koudekerke. Van hem herinner ik me het grapje: "Ik kan maken, ik kan maken, dat je hand naar peper ruikt". Hij pakte, terwijl ik mijn ogen moest sluiten, stiekem peper uit de kast en smeerde dat op mijn hand. Mijn broer Andries, geboren in 1929, ging met oom Piet mee om elektrische installaties te repareren en te onderhouden.
