Notes about Judge JOSEPH Kitchell

Birth: Jan. 25, 1710
Hanover
Morris County
New Jersey, USA
Death: Mar. 27, 1779
Parsippany
Morris County
New Jersey, USA

Joseph Kitchell, Esq., died at age 69. His name appears on the eastern side of the granite monument which honors his celebrated son, Aaron, his widow, Rachel Bates Kitchell, and Aaron's wife, Phebe Farrand Kitchell.
The monument is a Victorian era replacement for the individual sandstone steles which originally memorialized these four members of the Kitchell family, and does not necessarily mark their graves. Joseph's and Rachel's remains are probably located beneath an addition to the church which was built after their deaths, and Rachel's original gravestone, which still survives, is located elsewhere in the cemetery.
