Anna van Dijk en haar zus Constance kwamen om door een Duitse vliegende bom, een V1, die neerkwam op Huize Mariëngaarde in Tilburg. Tilburg wasenkele maanden daarvoor bevrijdt van de Duitse bezetter. Vanuit Duitsland stuurde de nazi's echter nog V1's naar Engeland. Niet alle motoren vandeze bommen waren betrouwbaar, waardoor er heel wat voortijdig neerstortten op Nederland, inclusief het reeds bevrijdde zuiden.
Beide dames werden door hun neven en nichten als eenheid aangeduid met het welluidende 'Tante-Anneke-en-Tante-Stans', wat als één woord gezegd werd.

Anna Philomena C.M. (Anneke) van DIJK, geb. 22-9-1891 te Tilburg als dochter van Josephus L.A. van DIjk (1853-1895) en Maria Anna van Roessel (1857-1900). Zij kwam op 53-jarige leeftijd om het leven toen op 2-2-1945 een vliegende bom (V-1) neerstortte op keuken en kapel van pension Mariëngaarde aan de Burg. Damsstraat 15. Ook haar oudere zusje Constance kwam daarbij om het leven. In totaal waren er 22 doden te betreuren.
