Anna van Dijk en haar zus Constance kwamen om door een Duitse vliegende bom, een V1, die neerkwam op Huize Mariëngaarde in Tilburg. Tilburg was enkele maanden daarvoor bevrijdt van de Duitse bezetter. Vanuit Duitsland stuurde de nazi's echter nog V1's naar Engeland. Niet alle motoren van deze bommen waren betrouwbaar, waardoor er heel wat voortijdig neerstortten op Nederland, inclusief het reeds bevrijdde zuiden.


 


Beide dames werden door hun neven en nichten als eenheid aangeduid met het welluidende 'Tante-Anneke-en-Tante-Stans', wat als één woord gezegd werd.
