Cornelis Johannes Asselbergs was gedurende 46 jaar, van 1874 tot aan zijn overlijden in 1920, rector van het St. Catharinagesticht op de Vismarkt (St. Catharinaplein) te Bergen op Zoom. Een portret van Cornelis Johannes, geschilderd door Jan Bogaerts, hangt nog steeds in het St. Catharinagesticht. (ook wel in de volksmond 't Katrientje genoemd)
