    Edgar Joseph Hake, 87, passed away at Brookdale Assisted Living Facility in McPherson on January 4, 2018 after a battle with cancer.
    Edgar was born July 26, 1930 to Theodore J. and Pauline (Schlenz) Hake in Tipton where he was a longtime resident. On April 7, 1953 he married Alice Schmitt and was happily married for 64 years. He graduated from Tipton High School and served in the army during the Korean War from 1951-53. Edgar had a lifelong career in the family hardware business for eighty years, and served as a funeral director. He was also a member of the Edgar Hake Trio and throughout the years enjoyed playing many piano gigs. No piano was a stranger to him, he was always known to sit down to play and share his passion for music with others. He loved people and was known far and wide for his story telling and continued that tradition with his articles titled “Edgar Says” in the Tipton Times. Edgar was a proud member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Tipton, Robert F. Kennedy Council No. 1645 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and Lions Club.
    He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Ellen Bongiovianni. He is survived by his wife, Alice; children, Jerry (Roxie) Hake, Beloit, Steve (Joyce) Hake, Salina, Jeanie (Rod) Tremblay, Castle Rock, Colo., Eileen (Bruce) Loomis, Macksville, Sharon (John) Sackrider, Salina, David (Shannon) Hake, Ft. Collins, Colo., Dan Hake, Tipton, Lee Anne (Stephen) Ankenbrandt, Highlands Ranch, Colo., Judy (Ken) Becker, McPherson; siblings, Kenny Hake, Salina, Msgr. James Hake, Salina, Estelle Schuster, Beloit, Diane Palen, Salina, Joan Palen, Beloit, Darlene Streit, Salina, Elizabeth Gillette, Tipton, Ron Hake, Arlington, Texas; 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
    Burial in the St. Boniface Cemetery, Tipton.
