In de huwelijksakte staat de bruid vermeld als Maria de Vries, zich noemende Ansems de Vries, en haar vader als Adriaan de Vries. Twee jongere zussen van de echtgenoot waren getuige bij dit huwelijk: Willemijntje Jasperijntje en Gerrigje van de Graaf. Na haar huwelijk vertrok zij naar haar echtgenoot in Nederlands Indië. Arie was dwangarbeider aan de Pakanbaru-spoorweg op Sumatra. Na alle oorlogsellende keerden zij in januari 1946 met hun oudste kind Rietje terug naar Nederland. Terug in Nederland heeft Arie nog als Chef-boormeester gewerkt in Trinidat en Brits Borneo (vanaf 1954: ca. 2,5 jaar) en nogmaalsin Brits Borneo (vanaf 1957: ca.10 maanden)
