Notes about Klaas Wit


Klaas Wit (96-V1) was de eerste boer die ging boeren in de drooggelegde IJpolder, zijn kleindochter Aafje Langendijk-Slooves vertelde Bert hierover:
De grond was nog zo drassig dat hij plankjes onder de benen van de paarden bond om te voorkomen dat zij wegzakten. Zoals altijd, de eerste boeren in een nieuwe polder gaan er failliet of houden er mee op voordat het zover komt. Klaas ging terug naar Winkel, huurde met enkele Amsterdammers in de nog nieuwe Groetpolder de plaats Zeeoogst en boerde daar uitstekend. Deze plaats is in ?? (jeugd Bert ca 1935?) afgebrand en er is een nieuwe gebouwd die er nu nog staat.

Klaas is overleden aan de gevolgen van het drinken van slootwater.
