Fokke Wiebes Weening, 21 jarige arbeider uit Surhuizum, staat op 23 januari 1875 met vier anderen voor de rechtbank in Leeuwarden op verdenking van mishandeling. Hij wordt schuldig bevonden en veroordeeld tot een gevangenisstraf van zes maanden en een boete.

Op 13 augustus 1878 staat Fokke weer voor de rechter op verdenking van mishandeling. Hij wordt op 27 augustus schuldig bevonden en veroordeeld tot een boete.
