Ties Freerks Weening uit Surhuizum staat op 8 mei 1873 met Willem Eelkes Jongsma voor de rechtbank. Zij worden verdacht van het door geweld inbreuk maken op andermans vrijheid in de uitoefening van zijn arbeid. Ze worden elk veroordeeld tot zes maanden gevangenisstraf.

Op 22 december 1886 staat Ties opnieuw voor de rechter, nu op verdenking van mishandeling. Hij wordt opnieuw schuldig bevonden en veroordeeld tot 7 dagen gevangenisstraf.
