Op 21 februari 1882 komt Cornelis Rijsberman voor in het indexregister bekeurden 1878-1890. Dit vanwege dronkenschap. Hij krijgt een boete van fl. 3 of 2 dag gevangenisstraf.

In 1883 komt Cornelis Rijsberman voor in een klapper op naam van veroordeelden van de Arrondissementsrechtbank in Amsterdam. Op 25 maart 1883 is proces-verbaal opgemaakt in Hilversum, op 2 april 1883 is de dagvaarding aan hem, wever van beroep en wonende in Hilversum, betekend. Hij wordt verdacht van het toebrengen van slagen of stoten en kwetsuren. De officier eist een cellulaire gevangenzetting van twee maanden en een boete van acht gulden. Uit de overwegingen blijkt dat hij op de avond van 25 maart op de openbare weg in Hilversum Reuben Turner moedwillig en gewelddadig met een mes een bloedende wond in het aangezicht heeft toegebracht. Ter terechtzitting ontkent Cornelis Rijsberman. Naast het slachtoffer zijn er echter getuigen die het verhaal bevestigen. Zij verklaren dat zij met zijn vijven waren en Cornelis Rijsberman ruzie met hen begon te maken. Daardoor ontstond een vechtpartij met de bloedende wond tot gevolg. De feiten worden wettig en overtuigend bewezen verklaard. Op 26 april 1883 veroordeelt de rechtbank Cornelis Rijsberman tot een gevangenisstraf voor twee maanden en een boete van acht gulden.
