Otto had een mercedes (diesel) vrachtwagen die hij naast de zaak op de helling parkeerde, starten deed hij door de wagen naar beneden te laten rollen. Hij had 2 stellages op de vrachtwagen, 1 voor groente en fruit en 1 voor vee. Zijn Hollandse neefjes (Karl en Helmut) mochten soms mee naar Frankrijk om vee op te halen, een heel avontuur.
Otto was piloot in de Eerste Wereldoorlog.
