De Leeuwarder Courant schrijft op 6 maart 1962: 'Op 82-jarige leeftijd is gisteren de oud-journalist, letterkundige en tekenaar Cornelis Veth in het verzorgingshuis "De Heemsteden" in Den Haag overleden. Vorige week zaterdag was hij 82 jaar geworden. Anne Cornelis Veth werd op 3 maart 1880 in Dordrecht geboren. Hij kreeg een opleiding voor de handel te Dordrecht en kwam als volontair op een kantoor. Al spoedig ging hij tekenles nemen bij zijn oom, de portretschilder Jan Veth te Bussum. Ook studeerde hij bij Martinus van Rechteren Altena in Bussum en bij Adolf Mayer in Berlijn. Hij kreeg in 1910 een aanstelling als literair criticus bij "De Telegraaf." In 1916 werd hij kunst- en later ook toneelrecensent van het "Nieuws van den Dag" en in 1922 keerde hij naar "De Telegraaf" terug. Spoedig daarna vestigde hij zich te Den Haag. Hij was eerste sekretaris van de Vereniging van Letterkundigen. Van zijn hand verschenen talrijke publicaties, deels van humoristische en satirieke aard, deels ernstige kunstbeschouwingen. Veth was verder bekend als tekenaar van karikaturen, die hij ook exposeerde.'

Cornelis woont in Dordrecht op Nieuwstraat 26 (1904) en in Amsterdam op Trompstraat 16 (Het Centrum, 18 februari 1921). De rechtbank Den Haag spreekt op 22 januari 1929 de echtscheiding uit tussen Cornelis en zijn 1e vrouw Jacoba Wilhelmina Kolstee. De gemeente Delft schrijft de echtscheiding op 2 maart 1929 in. Cornelis woont in deze jaren afwisselend in Voorburg en Den Haag. Cornelis hertrouwt na de scheiding in Londen met Hedwig Boon. Hedwig is eerder getrouwd met (en gescheiden van) Arthur Henry Crawford en van Henricus Wilhelmus Josephus Muller. Cornelis en Hedwig wonen in Den Haag op Albrechtstraat 345 (1931-1934) en op Schuytstraat 254 (1934-1962). Cornelis krijgt geen kinderen. Hij is sinds 1950 ridder in de orde van Oranje-Nassau (Leeuwarder Courant, 29 april 1950) en overlijdt 'zacht en kalm'.
