De aangifte is gedaan door Albertus Josephus van Zelst, 47 jaar, schoenmaker en Nicolaas Schellinger, 55 jaar, gemeenteambtenaar, beiden wonende te Leiden. Seegebertus komt na een kort ziekbed en een operatie aan het hoofd in het St. Elisabethsgasthuis in Leiden te overlijden. Hij is gemeenteveldwachter in Lisse. In de Leidsche Courant van 10-07-1928 wordt melding gemaakt van zijn overlijden. Hij wordt onder grote belangstelling begraven. Agenten van Hilligom, Lisse en Sassenheim en enkele rijksveldwachters geven hem in uniform een laatste eer.
