Phillip, geborren op het "Rusland" in Amsterdam,was a classical composer and a gifted piano player. He made children songs, religious music, catatas, sonatas, etc.
He was also the organist in the 'Antonius van Padua" kerk in Haarlem.
In memory of him, in September 1921, the city of Haarlem placed a stone bench in that famous park, "De Haarlemmerhout".They lived on the Floraplein.
He also composed an unnamed sonata, which was copied by his nephew Johannes Verkley,1888-1950, who played it many times. His son, Johannes 1931, who lives presently in Canada used this copy and recorded it on a C.D.
