    Dr. P.C. Van Traa werd in 1902 geboren, deed na het eindexamen der HBS het aanvullend staatsexamen A en studeerde daarna rechten te Leiden. In 1935 deed hij het doctoraal examen vrije studierichting, hoofdvak economie. Hij promoveerde in 1939 op een proefschrift getiteld: Theoretische economie. Van 1933 tot 1945 was hij repetitor te Leiden voor economie, statistiek, economische geschiedenis en sociale wetgeving, van Mei 1945 tot November 1945 was hij hoofd van de economische afdeling van het Militair Gezag voor Leiden en vervolgens voor Zuid-Holland. Sedert November 1945 was hij hoofd van de afdeling economisch onderzoek aan het Ministerie van Economische Zaken, welke functie voorheen werd bekleed door de hoogleraren Kreukniet en Korteweg. Op verzoek van het Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken geeft hij onderwijs in de economie aan hen, die zich bekwamen voor gezantschapssecretaris. Dr. Van Traa is woonachtig te 's Gravenhage.
