Drebbel die hij behulpzaam was bij de exploitatie van diens instrumenten; richtte in 1635 met zijn broers Gillis en Abraham onder de naam van Gebroeders Kuffeler, een compagnieschap in het scharlakenverven oop, welke te Stratford Bow aan de Lea een ververij had. Dde fraaie kleur van de verf verwierf bekendheid onder de naam van color Kuflerianus ook de naam Kuffeler's Bay komt voor; hij was betrokken bij de Hollandse kolonisatie in het Fens district. Van 1642 tot 1656 was hij in Holland en Gelderland; de Gebroeders Kuffeler hadden toen een ververij op het landgoed Hulkestein onder Arnhem; van 1656 af beheerde hij weer de ververij te Stratford Bow; hij was lijfarts van de Hertog van York, de latere Jacobus de tweede Koning van Groot Brittanie en Ierland.
