Ricus en Reinsje

Het stel gaat wonen in een kleine woning die achter in het land staat, nabij de Nieuwepolder. Later betrekken ze een woning aan de Waarlandsweg, de huidige Kerkstraat.

Bij het huwelijk van Ricus en Reinsje op 10 mei 1902 zijn vier getuigen aanwezig.

Dirk Plak (32), landbouwer, een broer van Reinsje, Jan Plak (31) idem, Jan Wardenaar (39) veldwachter en Jacob Dam (34) secretaris.

Ome Cor beschrijft in zijn memoires zijn moeder als een vrouw die altijd ziek is, en het gezin vanuit de bedstee regeert. Ze is toch nog 48 jaar oud geworden. Ze overlijdt op 28 september 1926.

Ricus en Reinsje krijgen 11 kinderen, waarvan er vier jong overlijden:

Opa Ricus is actief in het gemeenschapsleven van Waarland. Hij is in 1921 een van de initiatiefnemers en later secretaris van tuindersvereniging ‘Onderlinge hulp bij ziekte’.

Hij is medeoprichter en bestuurslid van de plaatselijke boerenleenbank Harenkarspel-Oost en meer dan dertig jaar bestuurslid van begrafenisvereniging Sint Paulus. Verder is hij jarenlang hoofdingeland van de Banne van Harenkarspel.

Opa Ricus overlijdt in Waarland op 12 januari 1965, kort nadat hij na een ziekenhuisopname in Alkmaar weer terug is gekomen in zijn oude huis, waar hij bij zijn zoon Dirk en diens vrouw Jantje inwoont. Hij wordt net geen 87 jaar. Geen van zijn kinderen is ouder geworden dan hij.
