Hendrik Bos 1901 - 1979. Henk Bos werd in 1901 in Huizen geboren als de zoon van een schoenmakersknecht. De jonge Bos ontwikkelde een groot talent voor het schilderen van stillevens in de stijl van oude meesters. Hij kreeg in zijn tijd al snel erkenning voor zijn werk in Amerika en werd daar soms zelfs de nieuwe Rembrandt uit Holland genoemd, wat hij zelf natuurlijk wel wat téveel eer vond.

Diverse musea zoals het Maryhill Museum of Art hebben werk van Henk Bos in hun vaste collectie opgenomen. Veel van het werk van Henk Bos bevindt zich in Amerika en duikt nu nog steeds op in allerlei galleries aldaar. In Nederland is de belangstelling voor stillevens vooral de laatste jaren sterk gegroeid. Werk van schilders als Henk Helmantel, Rob Molmann en Henk Bos raken tegenwoordig steeds meer in trek. Bos was lid van de kunstenaarsverenigingen St. Lucas in Amsterdam en van de Gooise Schildersvereniging in Laren.
