De Gooise kunstenaar Henk ( Hendrik) Bos, werd in 1901 in Huizen geboren en overleed in 1979 te Huizen. Hij verbeeldde in realistisch-impressionistische stijl landschappen, bloemstukken, (zelf)portretten en stillevens. Vooral dit laatste onderwerp boeide hem: het zijn ingetogen tafereeltjes van eenvoudige, bijeen gezette voorwerpen zoals een kan met een schaal eieren, of een stapel boeken bij een vaasje veldbloemen. In de traditie van de 17e-eeuwse Hollandse schilders was hij een meester in het schilderen van koper, tin en oud aardewerk en bracht hem veel erkenning, zeker in Amerika waar veel van zijn werk is heen gegaan. Bos was lid van de kunstenaarsverenigingen St. Lucas in Amsterdam en van de Gooise Schilders vereniging in Laren N.H..
