Notes about Geertruida Zaal

Geertruida Zaal trouwde op 14 mei 1903 met Arie Kroon, geboren te Woubrugge op 1 november 1877. Arie Kroon was van beroep metselaar. Zij kregen vier kinderen: Pieter Willem, geboren op 23 april 1904, overleden op 15 januari 1905; Pieter Willem, geboren op 12 mei 1906; Arie, geboren op 9 maart 1908 en Trijntje Hendrika, kortweg Tine genoemd, geboren op 1 juni 1910. Alle vier kinderen zijn in Aarlanderveen geboren.

Na het overlijden van haar man op 10 april 1911, ze was dus een weduwe met drie jonge kinderen van vijf, drie en één jaar, vertrok ze naar Alphen waar ze met de hulp van haar ouders een kruidenierswinkel begon op de Gouwsluisseweg nr. 15. Bij iedereen in de buurt Gouwsluis was zij bekend als "Tante Geertje". Die kruidenierswinkel heeft ze aangehouden tot aan de uitbraak van de tweede wereldoorlog op 10 mei 1940. Daarna ging ze eerst inwonen bij zoon Pieter-Willem op de Steenen Camer nr.19 inde Bilt en later bij haar dochter Tine op het Toussaintplein nr.45 in Alphen aan den Rijn.Zij is op 28 oktober 1949 overleden.
