WAUPUN-Hattie Schouten, 90, of 550 E. Main St., Waupun, died Wednesday, May 21, 1997, at the Waupun Memorial Hospital. The funeral was Saturday, May 24, at Trinity Reformed Church, Waupun. The Rev. Dan Jelsma officiated. Burial was in Forest Mound Cemetery, Waupun. Mrs. Schouten was born March 14, 1907, daughter of Aart and Gertrude (Kwakkle) Vande Streek. She was married to John Schouten on Sept. 11, 1929 in Waupun. She and her husband lived in Waupun where she was instrumental in the foundation of the Trinity Reformed Church, Waupun, where she was active in many ladies organizations. She inspired many students in the music field. Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn Kolb of Plymouth, Wis.; two sons, Larry (Alyce) Schouten of Hartland, Arvid (Cindy) Schouten of Waupun; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Gertrude Hull of Waupun. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1991; one granddaughter, Leslyn Matheys; two brothers; one sister; one half brother; and one half sister. Friends called on Saturday, May 24, at the werner- Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun. Memorials may be made to Trinity Reformed Church, Waupun.
