Na een verdiende vakantie begon het tweede schooljaar in september 1943. Het noodlokaal boven Massee werd verruild voor een echt klaslokaal in het Z.T.I. (Zeeuws Technisch Instituut), een particuliere school die opleidde tot weg- en waterbouwkundig ambtenaar. Met het nieuwe schooljaar kwamen er ook nieuwe leerlingen in de klas, zoals Lau Nieboer en Andr van Burg uit Waarde. Voor wiskunde kwam dhr. Oliemans (Pinte). Dhr. Oliemans was een vrijgezel, die op het Rimmelandplein een kamer had. Ieder weekend ging hij naar Delft, waar zijn moeder woonde. Voor zover mij bekend was hij als civiel ingenieur werkzaam geweest bij de Zuiderzeewerken en in de crisistijd ontslagen. Hij moest toen blij zijn een baan als leraar te vinden in Goes. Pinte een was ook erg bang als er vliegtuigen overkwamen. Hij keek dan uit het raam of er iets loos was. Van Burg zat naast een houten meterkast en ging met zijn hand over het hout., hetgeen een geluid maakte dat leek op afweergeschut. Pinte werd dan heel zenuwachtig en kon dan bijna geen les meer geven van schrik.
