Hendrikus J.A. is geboren aan de Zinkerweg. Hij werkte als scheepswerktuigkundige bij de Verenigde Nederlandse Stoomboot Maatschappij (VNSM). Hij was al sinds 1939 weg uit Nederland toen de tweede wereld ooolog uitbrak. De oorlog heeft hij in Engeland doorgebracht. Tot aan het overlijden van zijn vrouw, tante Roos, woonde het echtpaar aan de Juliana van Stolbergstraat in Slikkerveer. Na het overlijden van zijn vrouw verhuisde hij naar het Algemeen Bejaarden Complex aan de Noordstraat in Bolnes waar hij tot zijn overlijden, op 09-02-1975, heeft gewoond.
