Andries was Hoefsmid.
Op 1 maart 1782 verschijnen voor de Schepenen van Benningbroek, Aarjen de Vries en Jan Gerritsz, de heren Hendrik Besseling, "M.Hoefsmid" wonende te Benningbroek en Andries Jansz wonende te Abbekerk.
Andries Jansz koopt voor "zes hondert carolusguldens" een hoefsmederij met alle gereedschappen die daarbij horen, staande en gelegen te Benningbroek benevens Jan de Smeth ten Oosten en het land van de Roomse Kerk ten westen. Hendrik Besseling leent hem duizend carolusguldens die in twintig termijnen van vijftig carolusguldens per jaar afbetaald moeten worden.
De carolusgulden is voorzien van een afbeelding van Karel de Stoute en ze is geslagen in zilver en goud. De waarde bedroeg 20 stuivers.
