    Opgegroeid te Oud-Vroenhoven, ging ze werken in 'n winkel aan de Muntstraat, alwaar ze haar latere man, Sjeng, ontmoette. Op 17 december 1926 zijn zij getrouwd.
    Ma runde toen een eigen kruidenierszaak aan de Herbenusstraat. Hier werden haar oudste twee kinderen geboren. Op 13 november 1929 werd naar het Sterreplein in Wyck verhuisd, alwaar later nog 4 kinderen bij kwamen. Hier vestigde Pa zijn eigen loodgietersbedrijf. In de toen heersende crisistijd geen geringe opgave. De oorlogsjaren waren zeer zwaar 6 kleine en opgroeiende kinderen.
    Zij was 'n sterke vrouw, de spil van de familie, waar alles om draaide. Haar onbaatzuchtigheid kenmerkte haar. Zij was een zeer vrome vrouw met een groot vertrouwen op de voorspraak van de Sterre der Zee. Door haar kinderen, die alles voor haar waren, werd ze "'t regelateurtje" genoemd. De klein- en achterkleinkinderen waren haar trots. De dood van "Pap" was een zware klap. Toen ze vanwege gezondheidsredenen haar zelfstandigheid moest opgeven, was dit voor haar nauwelijks te verwerken. Deze jaren waren dan ook niet de gelukkigste. Tijdens haar verblijf in het ziekenhuis, kreeg ze nog een tegenslag te verwerken, welke ze niet meer te boven gekomen is. Te midden van haar kinderen is ze in vrede heengegaan naar haar geliefde Sjeng.
