Het huwelijk Servaes/Valckenborgh behoeft toelichting. In de republiek gold het zogenoemde Egtreglement: een huwelijk was pas rechtsgeldig als het voor de dominee in de Nederlands Hervormde kerk was gesloten of voor de stedelijke autoriteiten. Een katholiek huwelijk was in de Republiek niet geldig. Voor Maastricht was echter een uitzondering: het egtreglement was in Maastricht niet geldig. Katholieke huwelijken waren daar wel rechtsgeldig; alleen voor militairen gold een uitzondering; die moesten wel voor de dominee trouwen. Vaak trouwden ze daarna toch nog katkoliek. Dat is hier gebeurd, zodat er een dubbel huwelijk wordt gesloten.

Het protestantse huwelijk wordt op 21 augustus 1746 in de St. Jan aan het Vrijthof gesloten. (NB. De genoemde bron van Familysearch meldt op pagina 334 van Filmnr. 007365156 de datum van 5 augustus 1746)
Het katholieke huwelijk wordt op 22 augustus 1746 in de St. Martinus Kerk te Wyck gesloten, de parochiekerk van de familie Valckenborgh.
