    He was born January 30, 1952, in Paris, Illinois, the son of the late Bobby M. and Barbara (Shonk) Cooley. He married Agnes Marie Meador on August 13, 2005, in Brocton, Illinois, and she survives.

    Survivors include his wife, Agnes Cooley of Paris; three children, Brad Cooley of Paris, Marshall (Brandi) Vest of Paris, and Angie (Lon) Gibbons of Terre Haute, Indiana; two brothers, Bob (Betty) Cooley of Paris, and Jim (Joanie) Cooley of Lake Hills, Texas; three sisters, Betsy Hauseman of Miramar, Florida, Karen Hamm or Paris, and Joan Twigg of Paris; nine grandchildren, Petty Officer Second Class PR2(AW) Sabrina Cooley, Keana Blake, Brenden Fansler, Donald Olsen, Joanna Brankey, Lilly Lamb, Meridian Vest, Mason Vest, and Melissa Hall; numerous great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, including Jennifer LaBaume, Zachary Adams, Levi LaBaume, Clayton LaBaume, and Avari LaBaume. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Robert Cooley, and an infant sister, Mary Cooley.

    Mr. Cooley was a veteran of the United States Army and the National Guard, having served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a life member of the American Legion Post #211 where he served in the honor guard and was a past member of the Edgar County Shrine Club. He enjoyed woodworking, riding his motorcycle, and above all else he loved spending time with his family.
